Has One of the Shreveport Mardi Gras Parades Already Been Cancelled?
Online rumors were going around social media this week saying that the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade had been cancelled for 2022. Highland Krewe Captain Sydni Smith says that is not the case. But KEEL News did speak to Krewe of Highland Founder Matthew Linn who tells us if the community does not show up in force this Saturday night for the Coronation Event, things could change.
He says they do need to see a show of support from area residents for this event at the Lot downtown beginning at 6pm. He says this is one of the big fundraisers that helps foot the bill for the parade. Linn says Highland spends about 120 thousand dollars on the parade each year and a large chunk of that goes to Shreveport Police and Fire for security.
The following is the current plan for 2022 Shreveport Mardi Gras. The dates are subject to change.
