Head-On Crash Claims Life of a Plain Dealing Woman

A Plain Dealing woman has died in a crash in Webster Parish. The crash happened on Highway 157 just west of Highway 371.

State Police believe alcohol might have played a role in this deadly head-on collision. The victim is identified as 46-year-old Kelly Birdwell.

Troopers report both cars were in the wrong lanes when they collided.

47-year-old Brynton Simmons of Springhill, was driving a 2014 Honda Accord west in the eastbound lane and Birdwell was driving a 2006 Honda Civic east in the westbound lane when the 2 vehicles collided head-on.

Birdwell was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Webster coroner's office.
