Authorities have identified the human remains that were discovered last weekend in northern Bossier Parish. According to a release from Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington, the remains belong to 48-year-old Garrett Wilson. Here's the release from the Sheriff's Office:

"The Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office has positively identified the human remains that were found a week ago in northern Bossier Parish.

Coroner Dr. John Chandler determined by matching DNA the identity of the remains found in a rural area off of Rocky Mount Road are those of Garrett Wilson, 48, of Bossier City.  Wilson had been reported missing from his Bossier City residence in late January.

The North Louisiana Crime Lab conducted the DNA analysis and provided a 24-hour turnaround of the evidence.

Family members of Wilson have been notified.

Bossier Sheriff’s Office detectives are continuing their investigation."
