Shreveport Green teamed up with several local groups for the Great American Cleanup.
The volunteers cleaned up in several local parks and along the bank of the Red River. In Bossier Parish, nearly 100 deputies, staff, Young Marines and community volunteers picked up 131 bags of trash at six different locations throughout Bossier for the 2nd Annual “Operation Clean Sweep”.

The intermittent rain didn’t stop the group from picking up trash and debris from Bossier roadways, ditches and grass lots on East Texas St., Airline Dr., Swan Lake Rd., Shed Rd., Barksdale Blvd. and other areas for about two hours in the morning.  They returned with the bags of trash, abandoned shopping buggies and various other debris to the Viking Drive Substation to be loaded into a dumpster provided by Progressive Waste Solutions.  The dumpster will remain at the substation on Viking Drive until Monday morning. Residents can drop off their bags and litter there was well.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington encourages everyone to do his or her part...first, by not littering, and second, by picking up litter when you see it.  “Clean cities have less crime, and together, we’ll keep Bossier looking great.”
