The Department of Wildlife & Fisheries is upping the bounty on nutria rats to combat coastal erosion.

If you're a hunter looking to make some extra money, this is the time to do it. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries has increased the bounty it will pay hunters who kill nutria, according to KATC. The new bounty is $6 and is the result of fewer nutria being hunted in the past. Nutria chew on tree roots and cause erosion in marshes which has increased in recent years.
