‘I Do… Until I Don’t’ Trailer Posits Maybe Marriage Is Dead… Until It Isn’t
In the modern world of relationship comedies, happily ever after is rarely the endgame. Instead, we’re in the middle of an era where that “ever after” is examined, and a marriage that started off perfectly has grown a little more complicated than its two subjects anticipated. It’s an uncomfortable topic to deal with, but what better genre to do that than comedy? And what better cast to do it with than the cast of the upcoming I Do… Until I Don’t?
Ed Helms and Lake Bell play a couple whose sex life is just not connecting like it used to. Joining them are the raggedy hipster pair of free spirits played by Amber Heard and Wyatt Cenac, preaching free love and the benefits of illegally shipped distilleries. Meanwhile, Mary Steenburgen and Paul Reiser fill their voids with endless bickering. Connecting them all is a filmmaker obsessed with the notion that marriage is not and should not be forever, attempting to use couples like these three to prove her point. The thing about love, though, is its rarely predictable.
An ensemble comedy following three couples stuck in the web of a jaded filmmaker looking to prove that marriage should be a seven-year contract with an option to renew. From the acclaimed director of In A World comes I Do...Until I Don't featuring an all-star cast of Lake Bell, Ed Helms, Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, Wyatt Cenac, and Dolly Wells.
I Do… Until I Don’t is directed by Lake Bell and hits theaters September 1.
