IRS e-Filing Down Slightly In Louisiana

Here are Louisiana’s statistics through March 25, 2011 with comparison to the same period last year.   

There has been a significant increase in self-prepared returns as compared to this same period last year.  The IRS also reports seeing that the overall number of returns filed continues to pick up; though, still down slightly nationwide and in Louisiana.   

Total Returns Filed (e-file and paper) – 1,215,157  (down 1.4% compared to last year) 

Total electronic returns filed – 1,050,544 

Percentage e-filed – 86%  (last year 81% of returns had been filed electronically) 

e-filed returns – Prepared by Tax Professionals – 686,592 (up 2.9% compared to same period last year) 

e-filed returns – Self-prepared – 363,952 (up 9.7% compared to same period last year)
