With the state of our country, in fact, the entire world these days, there is nothing we need now more than prayer.  We need God to lead us back to him and pour his mercy out on us for our many shortcomings.

According to the National Day of Prayer website, our country has set this date aside each year for that prayer for over 65 years:

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.

Prayer is powerful.  It's our direct link to God the Father and is the only way to open the line of communication to steer this country back on course and bring unification to this great land.

Dr. Ronnie Floyd, President of The National Day of Prayer, leads us in this year's prayer.
