If you are from Louisiana, you are proud of where you are from. You are proud of your heritage, your culture, your cooking, your family, and the town or city you live in. Louisiana folks are the proudest people in the nation and are very territorial when it comes to things in Louisiana that outsiders think they know about.

People not from Louisiana are not allowed to criticize a Louisiana Cajun's cooking or try and change their recipe. You are also not allowed to comment or assume things about Louisiana Cajuns and the stereotypes that people from across the nation assume about Louisiana folks.

Now if you are from Louisiana, some things scare you or you will never stand for in the Bayou State. This is where we came up with a list of five things Cajuns from Louisiana will lose their mind over or are scared of.

#5 -- Chinese Crawfish -- If you are going to make an etouffee or a gumbo and go buy some frozen crawfish tails at the store if the package says made in China, Louisiana folks will throw that back down in the freezer. If the package doesn't say it comes from Louisiana, we ain't using it!

#4 -- The Rougarou -- The Rougarou pronounced roux-ga-roux is a legendary creature in French communities linked to traditional concepts of the werewolf. Cajuns have so many stories of seeing a Rougarou in the woods and swamps of Louisiana. Kind of like Bigfoot but not the same.

#3 -- Mardi Gras Traffic -- Everyone in Louisiana loves Mardi Gras. They are either in a Mardi Gras Krewe, part of a Chicken Run, or love going to the Mardi Gras parades. The one thing Louisiana folks do hate though is the traffic jams after a parade. Parades are usually attended by tens of thousands of people but once the parade is over, it's chaos as everyone tries to leave at the same time.

#2 -- NFL Referees --  If you are from Louisiana, then at birth you were anointed a New Orleans Saints football fan whether you wanted to be one or not. Some have strayed away once they finally moved out of their momma and daddy's house to another team but would never root for a team while living under their roof. The NFL referees scare Louisiana people because if you have been a Saints fan, you have seen so many terrible calls that took the Saints out of the playoffs or caused them to lose a game. For Saint fans, in their opinion, it's the referees that screwed the Saints and you will never change their mind either!

#1 -- Tomatoes In Gumbo -- Want to see a Cajun from Louisiana crying? Tell them you have had a gumbo that has tomatoes in it. That is a huge no-no in the state of Louisiana. No Cajun on god's green earth ever put tomatoes in a gumbo. You will never see that and according to Cajuns, it's sacrilegious. LOL Seafood or Chicken and Sausage gumbos are the most popular and include roux, meat, sausage, or seafood of your choosing along with the holy trinity and seasoning. NO TOMATOES EVER!

Offer a Cajun gumbo with tomatoes in it and see what happens. On second thoughts, no, don't do that, Don't ever do that!
