Though I don't actually live on Lake Bistineau, I love this lake!

Because this jewel in Northwest Louisiana that actually lies in Bossier, Webster and Bienville parishes is one of the finest fisheries in the entire country, it's naturally going to have a special place in the heart of every fisherman in the area; myself included.

Though I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of the annual drawdowns that routinely take place in July to aid Lake Bistineau's battle with Giant Salvinia, I understand the logic behind them and wish that more people would take the time to help clean up any of the old sunken boats and trash exposed when the water recedes.

That's why I was so excited to read that the organizations, "Keep Bossier Beautiful" and "The Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society" have organized a day solely dedicated to the cleanup and enjoyment of our beautiful waterway and they are in need of anyone willing to volunteer their time and talents to the effort.

As the organizations write on the Event's Facebook Page:

Bring your kayak, boat or waders, and let's unite for a cleaner, greener environment! Sign up to let us know you're coming and receive email updates.

Lunch will be provided by Advanced Air Conditioning & Heating for registered cleanup volunteers!

On Saturday, June 7, beginning at 8:00 am, all volunteers are asked to come register at Parish Camp at Lake Bistineau, 198 Public Camp Road in Elm Grove.

After registering, volunteers will disperse to begin the cleanup efforts and will return in time for a FREE lunch.
