We were informed late yesterday afternoon that the LA 154 bridge over Lake Bistineau in Bossier and Bienville parishes was re-opened after the hard winter freeze and now we've just been given official word from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development of the reopening of another heavily travelled thoroughfare.

In a release from the DOTD we learn that the Benton Road (LA 3) overpass over the KCS railroad tracks in Bossier City has been REOPENED, effective immediately.

DOTD’s emergency personnel will continue to monitor upcoming weather situations and will scout the area for safety on the roadways. Crews will be mobilized as needed in the event an area is once again threatened by severe weather conditions.

This is the KCS overpass near the Bossier Civic Center and Tubbs Hardware on Benton Road in Bossier City.

Of course, there are still many roadways in the area including much of I-49 through Caddo Parish that remain closed, but in all likelihood, these roads will also reopen in the coming hours and we will update you as we get that information.
