Jubilee Zoo Permanently Closes in Shreveport
It is a sad day for families across Northwest Louisiana who have shared countless memories at Jubilee Zoo. Many of us noticed them slowing down operations earlier this year, and back in April, the family behind the beloved local attraction announced they had relocated to the Dallas area and a different family was running operations under a different name here in NWLA. That move alone left a noticeable hole in our community, but now the news is official, and it hits right in the heart.
With the permanent closure, the entire 48-acre property on Highway 1 near I-49, which includes both a main house and a mobile home, will be listed for sale soon.
You Can Purchase the Trackless Train From Jubilee Zoo!
On top of the land, the zoo’s popular trackless train is also up for sale! They are currently asking for serious inquiries only, so if you or someone you know is interested in purchasing the trackless train, you can message their team directly through the Jubilee Zoo Facebook page for more information.
Jubilee Zoo officially announced on their Facebook page that they have permanently closed all operations. For years, a trip to Jubilee Zoo meant hands-on fun for kids and parents alike. Whether you were petting and feeding the animals, taking a spin on the carousel ponies, enjoying a family picnic by the playground, or riding along on a scenic hayride, it was a staple for family weekend outings in our area.
While it is tough to say goodbye to such a special spot, we are fortunate to still have great family-friendly animal encounters right in our backyard:
Cypress Zoo (Benton, LA): Tucked away on seven beautiful acres inside Cypress-Black Bayou Park & Recreation Area, Cypress Zoo is surrounded by soaring oaks, pines, and sweet gum trees. Built in 1998, it offers a fantastic educational environment where families can learn about and respect local wildlife while enjoying a peaceful day outdoors. (135 Cypress Park Dr, Benton, LA 71006)
Gators and Friends (Greenwood, LA): If you are looking for an action-packed adventure, Gators and Friends has it all! You can pet a baby alligator, feed exotic animals at the petting zoo, enjoy pony rides, watch live alligator feeding shows, zip-line over the park, and even race high-speed go-karts. (11441 Hwy 80, Greenwood, LA 71033)
