Regardless of your thoughts of Louisiana roads, it certainly can't be said that DOTD hasn't spent the past twenty four months trying to make some major improvements.

Just the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City alone, will make for an incredible reduction in trips to the alignment shop for vehicle repairs. Couple that with the rebuilding of the Jimmie Davis Bridge and that would make for improvements we wouldn't have seen over the course of a decade previously, but DOTD has both going simultaneously.

While we are human and hate the traffic slow-downs associated with these projects, those who have enough wisdom to see the long-term benefits are grateful for the improvement.

Another of those projects that will slow traffic is scheduled for this week.

According to Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, this Wednesday, October 1, and Thursday, October 2, there will be intermittent lane closures on LA 3132 between the US 171 (Mansfield Road) and I-20 interchanges in Shreveport.

These lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and are necessary to allow the contractor for the current signage replacement project to pour concrete foundations for the new sign poles.

The lane closures will take place in both directions of LA 3132, though not at the same time. Previously permitted oversized loads will be accommodated through the work zone.

Signage replacement projects are important and necessary investments in the infrastructure system because updated, clear signage ensures that drivers have accurate information related to roadway configurations. Signs convey regulations and warnings, and help maintain adequate traffic flow through an area.

This work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so any inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways, the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
