See the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at the Strand on April 25th

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be coming to Shreveport's Strand Theatre on April 25th as part of their 'Farewell' tour. Farwell is in quotation marks because this isn't your typical farewell tour. As the band stated plainly, this is a farewell to regularly touring but they will continue to make music and play select dates. Which is fair because the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was never your typical band.

How do you even begin to describe the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band? Born of the Southern California Folk Rock scene, the NGDB became something different. Blending Americana, country, rock, the blues and a whole more together. There's a reason that in their career they opened up Jack Benny, toured with the Doors, made a cameo in the movie 'Paint Your Wagon', was the back up band for Steve Martin's hit song 'King Tut' and played jam sessions with jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie. They are just one of those bands that transcend traditional labels, expectations and definitions. And nearly six decades later, not much has changed on that front.
