A notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is alerting all motorists that next Tuesday night, September 8, 2026, the I-20 westbound off-ramp to Exit 19A (Spring/Market St) in downtown Shreveport will be closed for the purpose of crash attenuator repair at this location.

This ramp closure is scheduled to take place from approximately 8:00 pm to 6:00 am and is expected to last this one night only.

A crash attenuator, also known as an impact attenuator, is a device intended to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and lessen injuries to motorists resulting from a collision. These devices are designed to absorb the colliding vehicle’s energy.

This will be a total ramp closure and DOTD states that all vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

As with any project of this type, all work will be performed "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
