Black Heritage Festival of Louisiana Returns to Lake Charles This Month
(KJMH-FM) - The Black Heritage Festival of Louisiana is coming back to Lake Charles and will take place later this month. We've got everything you need to know before the festival gets here!
The four-day festival will run from March 12 through March 15 and will celebrate African American culture, music, food, and community. The festival is open to everyone. People can enjoy live music, dance shows, good food, vendors, and fun activities. The goal is to share African American history, art, and traditions while bringing the community together.
The festival is designed to celebrate culture, education, and community pride. 2026 Black Heritage Festival of Louisiana Schedule
DAY 1 – THURSDAY, MARCH 12
The festival begins with Senior Citizen Super Bingo at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center - Lake Charles from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This free event is made to celebrate and honor seniors in the community. Guests can enjoy music, prizes, food, and time to relax and visit with friends.
DAY 2 – FRIDAY, MARCH 13
The celebration continues with the Black Heritage Festival Gala Tribute Concert at The Venue - Lake Charles. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. This special night is a formal cultural celebration featuring tribute music honoring legends like Tyrone Davis, Aretha Franklin, and Chaka Khan. Tickets are about $40 plus fees, and reserved tables are available.
DAY 3 – SATURDAY, MARCH 14
The biggest festival day is Community and Family Day at the Lake Charles Event Center from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free event includes live music, stage performances, food trucks, and a vendor village highlighting local and regional Black-owned businesses. Families can enjoy a Kids Zone, high school band performances, a health fair, dance shows, giveaways, and community activities for all ages.
DAY 4 – SUNDAY, MARCH 15
Wrapping up the four-day festival is the Gospel Extravaganza at Christian Baptist Church - Lake Charles, starting at 6 p.m. This free event closes the festival with a night of praise, worship, and gospel music performances featuring choirs and ministry groups.
