Lufkin, Texas Man Arrested For Capital Murder Of His Son

A $1 million bond has been set for Anfernee Durham, 25, of Lufkin, Texas after his arrest on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. According to Jessica Pebsworth, communications director for the City of Lufkin, the Lufkin Police Department arrested Durham for the capital murder of his son.

The case dates back to October 2023 after the death of Durham's 4-month-old Kylo. Kylo died in a Houston hospital on October 20, 2023, after being transferred from a Lufkin hospital three days prior.

Harris County Medical Examiner Rules Kylo's Death A Homicide

A Harris County medical examiner ruled Kylo's death a homicide. The injuries that caused his passing were from blunt force trauma to the head and torso. Once the autopsy was finalized yesterday, Lufkin detectives launched their investigation.

Before the arrest, the detectives obtained a warrant for Durham.

Capital Murder Suspect Arrested In Lufkin Without Incident

The Lufkin Police Department, assisted by the Angelina County Sheriff's Office, went to the suspect's residence to make the arrest. Durham was arrested at his home in the 300 block of Rainwood Drive in Lufkin without incident.

As of 10 AM on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Durham is now in custody at the Angelina County Jail. The mugshot provided by the Lufkin Police Department was from a 2021 arrest of the same subject for an unrelated offense.

The Angelina County Jail was originally built to hold 279 inmates according to Angelina County. Currently, there are 269 inmates inside the jail.
