It's not everyday that 100% of a state can say they hate someone, but everybody wants to beat Seth up this morning.

Doesn't matter what time you had your alarm set this morning. The entire state of Texas was woken up to a blue alert. Which in case you don't know, is when a police officer is killed or seriously injured in the line of duty and the suspect is on the run. Seth Altman around 11pm last night shot the Memphis, Texas Police Chief Rex Plant as he was serving a warrant on Altman. Seth was able to get away on foot after the shooting and since police did not know his whereabouts, the blue alert was sent out in an effort to catch him.

Should the Entire State of Texas Be Alerted When This Happens?

Memphis, Texas is just south of Amarillo. Obviously everyone in the panhandle area should be notified. However, the state of Texas emergency alerts system does not have a grid system setup and just alerts everyone in the state. Folks in Corpus Christi, Texas nine hours away were alerted of Seth Altman this morning and the state of Texas decided to share their frustrations. Here are some of my favorites.

Texans Share Frustrations on Blue Alerts

We will wait and see if the state of Texas makes changes to their emergency alert system. Seems kind of overkill to alert the entire state of Texas if they're not within the area of the crime.
