Shreveport Area Schools Close Wednesday for Icy Roads and Safety Concerns
Caddo and Bossier schools and sites will be closed again on Wednesday due to severe winter weather. But Natchitoches Parish schools will be OPEN.

While we did climb well above freezing today, not all of the ice has melted and the ice is expected to refreeze tonight making conditions dangerous on some roads in the rural areas.
Superintendent Keith Burton tells KEEL News there are some snow days built into the schedule and he is not planning to require virtual learning for the Wednesday day off. But he says if we go beyond this day off, he might have to require virtual learning for students.
What Other Schools Will Be Closed on Wednesday
Webster Parish Schools will be closed on Wednesday. Superintendent Johnny Rowland says “out of an abundance of caution, the Webster Parish School System will remain closed Wednesday, Jan. 28. A decision for Thursday will be made tomorrow afternoon.”
DeSoto and Sabine Parish Schools will also be closed on Wednesday.
Bossier Parish Community College campuses in Bossier, Natchitoches, and Many will remain closed Wednesday, January 28th, in response to the winter weather conditions impacting our region.
LSUS will also be closed on Wednesday.
The Caddo Courthouse will remain closed on Wednesday.
Caddo Juvenile Court will remain closed on Wednesday.

Shreveport City Hall will remain closed on Wednesday.
Bossier City Hall and Bossier City Court closed on Wednesday.
No garbage pickup in Bossier City on Wednesday.
There will be NO garbage and trash pickup on Wednesday in Shreveport. Service will resume on Thursday with regular Thursday pickup and Friday pickup will happen on Friday. Normal pickup will resume on Monday.
City Courthouse and the City Marshal's Office will remain closed on Wednesday.

Public transit will be back up and running on Wednesday on a Sunday schedule.
What Is Reopening on Wednesday
Natchitoches Parish schools will be back open on Wednesday. The leaders posted this message online:

The Bossier Parish Police Jury announces that the Bossier Parish Courthouse will reopen for business on Wednesday at 10am.
All Bossier Sheriff’s Office Operations will be back open on Wednesday.
Centenary College will reopen on Wednesday, January 28. But, due to continued hazardous travel conditions in some areas, the campus may have limited operations, including some virtual classes and office closures.
Hospitals remain operational with dedicated power and generator backups, despite some facilities operating on generators.
Water and sewer emergencies in Shreveport should be reported to 318-673-7604; systems are currently functioning well.
