Fun Things to do in Downtown Shreveport This Weekend
Did you know you could hunt for a megaladon's shark's tooth, check out the latest fashions, play laser tag, have dinner, and see more original art than you ever thought possible, all this weekend? And you don't even have to go out of town to do any of it.
If you've got a hankerin' to get out of the house this weekend, but are not a fan of the bar or club scene, there are plenty of options for you this weekend. You can check out Fun Zone Entertainment! You can rent outdoor games, dance to silent disco, enjoy a family game of laser tag and more. You can also enjoy hot dogs, ice cream and snow cones. Friday & Saturday starting at 8P at 400 Texas Street.
If you're on the lookout for fashion bargains, you might check out Sip, Swap, and Shop at the Remington Suites Hotel Ballroom, 220 Travis St, this Saturday from 11A-3P. Sip (wine & summer beverages both cocktail and mocktail), Shop (women's clothing ~ new and lightly used, vintage and handmade~, shoes, jewelry, hats, purses, jewelry, scarves and more) and Swap (did someone say barter?). You do not need a ticket, just fill the car with friends and come have a great time.
For another fun option for dinner and art, you might check out Dinner and the Arts at Artipsy. You'll enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by Uneeda chef Greta Taylor, live music by Titus and Company, and a painting to take home at the end of the evening. Feast on pasta chicken, butter grilled shrimp, Caesar salad and Hennessy peach cobbler and the cocktail of your choice. Perfect as a date night or a night with friends. 21 and older, please. Another family friendly activity is Shark Week at the Shreveport Aquarium. Hunt for a Megalodon tooth, and pan for fossils and other finds at the Red River Treasure Mine. The weekend also includes shark and gator feeding, science, craft projects, talks and more.
And the fun continues even after the weekend with Downtown Shreveport Artwalk on Wednesday, August 2nd, 5-8P. Start at Central ArtStation at 801 Crockett Street and follow the map to local artist treasures galore. And it's completely free.
