The Krewe of Gemini Parade will roll a little earlier this weekend. After a meeting involving Krewe leaders and city officials, a decision has been made to start the parade a couple of hours earlier than normal.

Mother nature is just not cooperating for the Krewe of Gemini parade. There's a pretty good chance of thunderstorms Saturday evening. Some of the storms could move in during the afternoon hours.

What Is the Decision about a Parade Change

After checking with the folks from the National Weather Service, the leadership team has decided to move the Krewe of Gemini XXXVII parade to a 1pm start onSaturday, February 14. The parade was scheduled to roll at 3pm, but that might has now been adjusted to try to get the parade wrapped up before the strong storms arrive.

The streets will close at noon.

The Forecast: A Race Against the Rain

The current forecast for Saturday warns of a significant weather front moving into the ArkLaTex region during the late afternoon and evening hours. While the morning is expected to stay dry with temps climbing to near 65°. The chance of heavy rain and storms is close to 90% for Saturday after 5:00 PM.

Gemini is a Legacy of Celebration

The Krewe of Gemini was founded in 1989 and was the first parading Krewe in the Shreveport - Bossier area. It is now a massive nonprofit dedicated to community service and the preservation of Mardi Gras culture in Northwest Louisiana.
