Holiday flights for Louisiana travelers are about to get complicated. Major domestic carriers are preparing to cut routes as the winter travel season approaches.

While speaking at a recent Morgan Stanley conference, United Airlines Chief Financial Officer Michael Leskinen told the audience that his company will probably be canceling flights for December. Or at least that their current plans would not move forward. The United Airlines management confirmed these schedule reductions are a direct response to spikes in fuel costs.

Louisiana travelers can expect to bear the financial burden of these adjustments when booking connecting flights. Corporate leadership plans to pass all, 100%, of the increased fuel costs directly to passengers through higher ticket prices. Competitors like American Airlines are also preparing capacity trims to handle the market shock...making it harder to find alternate routes across the country.
