SHREVEPORT, LA - In just a couple of weeks Louisiana will get a new Governor. Jeff Landry will be sworn in as the 57th Governor of the state. There are several events open to the public on January 8. Landry will begin the week with a Catholic mass on Sunday with close friends and family.

Sunday, January 7

Invited guests will join Governor-Elect Landry and the future First Lady for a morning of prayer at a Catholic Mass celebrated at Landry’s childhood church, Saint Martin de Tours in Saint Martinville. St. Martin de Tours is one of America’s oldest catholic churches founded in 1765.

Monday, January 8

Landry takes the oath of office on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol at 11:30am
Invited guests, dignitaries and all residents of the state are invited to witness this historic event. Many other statewide elected officials will also be sworn in.

Inauguration Ball is at 7:00pm at the Raising Cane's River Center in Baton Rouge. This is billed by Landry as the “people’s party”. This will be a formal, black-tie celebration of the Inauguration of Landry. You do have to request a ticket ahead of time. The price of each ticket is $100. CLICK HERE TO REQUEST TICKETS

There are 5,000 tickets to this black tie ball available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Landry says "It's going to be an unbelievable celebration. This is the people's administration, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to celebrate."

Landry plans to hit the ground running. He's called lawmakers into special session on January 15 to redraw Congressional maps. There is also another special session to address crime beginning on February 19 and the regular session begins on March 6.
