SHREVEPORT, LA - It should be no surprise for you to learn Louisiana has a litter problem. A new study commissioned by Keep Louisiana Beautiful shows litter is a problem all across Louisiana. But this study shines a light on the problem in northwest Louisiana.

Check Out The Findings:

"LADOTD Districts were used as one of the criteria in determining survey site location. The average amount of visible litter was lowest in District 58, the Chase area, and highest in District 4, the Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area."

That's not good news for northwest Louisiana and shows us we need to do a better job cleaning things up.

How Bad Is the Problem?

The report says there are approximately 143.8 million pieces of litter on Louisiana roadways.

Interstates are the most littered type of roadway, with
an average of 10,178 pieces of litter per mile.

The most visible litter are cigarette butts, plastic beverage containers and construction debris.
