Weather in Shreveport is very unpredictable sometime. We know it's going to be blisteringly hot in August. That's a given. But spring time around here can get a little dicey. We might have storms. It might get hot. And like this week, it might get cold.

How Cold Did It Get in Shreveport on March 17

Records have been broken all across the state. In Shreveport, the low temp dipped to 27 degrees. That ties the record of 27 set back in 1892. That's a long time ago.

But records fell in many other cities around the state.

What Cities Set Record Lows

The temp dropped to 33 in Baton Rouge which breaks the record of 34 set in 1962,1937 and 1913.

Another record falls in Alexandria where the temp dipped all the way down to 26. The record for March 17 has been 34 which was set in 1959.

At the Elysian Fields site in Alexandria, the low dropped to 25 which crushes the record for the date which was 32 set in 1956.

Residents of Monroe also woke up to a bone chilling day with a low of 26. The previous record was 28 set back in 1923.

Spring-like weather will be returning later this week. Our temps will be warming back up in the next couple of days. In fact, The Weather Channel is predicting we could see record high temps later this week. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will close in on 90 degrees.

Imagine that. Record lows to start the week and record highs to end the week. That doesn't happen in too many places. But like we always say the weather is very unpredictable around here.
