SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreveport police responded to more than 9700 traffic accidents in 2023. The data shows more than 6400 of those crashes are considered minor with no injuries. There were also more than 2100 minor hit and run accidents.

How Many Injury Crashes Happened in Shreveport in 2023?

There were 1084 injury crashes and 73 hit and run crashes that involved injuries to one or more people involved in the accident.

These calls typically take up at least 2-3 hours for several police officers to respond to the crash and do a full investigation. Some of these wrecks involve many hours especially if there is an 18-wheeler involved with any kind of spill. It the wreck involves a detour, it involves many officers to help direct traffic around the mess.

There is some good news in this report. The intersection that has been at the top of the list for most wrecks for several years is not even in the top 10 most dangerous intersections this year. Spring and Lake Street did not make the list. This must mean folks are paying attention to the lane restrictions entering downtown Shreveport.
