SHREVEPORT, LA - A Louisiana city makes the list of possible nuclear war targets. There's also one target city in Texas on the list.

We are not at risk for nuclear war. At least I hope not. But if it ever got to that point, northwest Louisiana residents need to know our community makes the list.

This "hit list", if you will, was first published in the Daily Mail. They put together a list of the 15 US cities that are likely targets if a nuclear attack were to happen in the United States.

Why Do These Cities Make the List?

Most of them are on the list because they have lots of people. But the target list also includes communities like Shreveport and Bossier City where a major military installation is housed. Barksdale Air Force Base is clearly the reason northwest Louisiana is on the list of possible targets.

We can all pray that we never have to face anything like a nuclear war, but you also might want to know what parts of the country should stay on high alert, in the event things ever do escalate.

What to Do During a Nuclear Attack?

The Red Cross advises you to take cover as quickly as you can, below ground if possible, and stay there unless directed otherwise by authorities. If you can not get underground, find nearest brick or concrete building and remain inside to avoid contact with any radioactive material outside.
