SHREVEPORT, LA - This is a big weekend in Shreveport and Bossier City for Mardi Gras celebrations. The big Krewe of Centaur rolls on Saturday afternoon from the Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport. But on Sunday, it's time for the local pet parade, The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux.

What is the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux?

The Krewe of Barkus & Meoux is a parade for animal lovers. Folks will dress up their dogs, cats, snakes, pigs, goats and all kinds of other animals for this annual celebration.

Where and When is the Barkus and Meoux Parade?

The pet parade is being held at Louisiana Downs this year. The Krewes will be throwing all kinds of specialty items to the crowds including lots of pet treats, stuffed animals and so much more. The parade begins at 2pm.

What Food Vendors Will Be Available?

Several local food trucks will be available for this years event including WonderStick, Yeero-Yeero, 318 Food, The Cajun Asian, C's Unique SnoBalls and Good Cravingz Food Truck.

The gates for this event open at 11 Sunday morning and the parade will roll at 2pm.

Bring your family and deck those pets out in their favorite outfits to enjoy a great day of fun during this Mardi Gras season.

The weather for the Saturday parade looks wet, but the Sunday forecast says it will probably by partly cloudy with a high temp of 64 degrees.
