
Shreveport’s Gambling Scene Is Set for a Big Shakeup
The gambling landscape in Shreveport could be changing. A big ownership change is happening. Boyd Gaming has announced a plan to sell the Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino to Bally’s Corporation.
This proposed sale has the gambling community all abuzz in northwest Louisiana. What will happen with the Sam's Town property? Will the name change? Will Boyd Gaming make improvements to the property?
The interesting part about this deal is that Sam’s Town is right next door to Bally's Shreveport Casino & Hotel on the riverfront.
Here Are Some of the Details of this Gambling Deal
Sam’s Town Shreveport has a 29,000-square-foot casino, 750 slot machines, 14 table games, and a 514-room hotel.
This deal could close in the 3rd quarter of this year. But it still needs to regulatory approvals from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
Financials: The specific purchase price has not been released by the gambling companies.
Bally's Chairman Soo Kim says this acquisition reflects the company’s confidence in the Shreveport market. "As an existing operator in Shreveport, we know this market well,"
Boyd Gaming operates 27 gaming entertainment properties across 11 states. Bally’s Corporation operates 19 casinos across 11 U.S. states and one casino in the UK.
Once this transaction closes, Bally’s will operate four casinos in Louisiana:
Bally’s Shreveport (Existing)
Sam’s Town Shreveport (Newly Acquired)
Bally’s Baton Rouge
The Queen Baton Rouge
Since the beginning of casino gambling in Louisiana, the state has issued 15 "riverboat" casino licenses. Bally's is not likely to give up this license and combine operations.
