Shreveport Police Charge Two With Armed Robbery, One With Animal Abuse

Shreveport Police have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery involving two men known to the victim.

Late last month, SPD Officers responded to Ice Cream Street to investigate a robbery reported to have occurred. The victim told investigators that after exiting a city bus, he was approached by Robert Carmack and Rodney Hill, both childhood acquaintances.

Investigators learned that Hill allegedly got out of a car armed with a revolver. The victim ran into a nearby yard, where both suspects allegedly cornered him and demanded his money. The victim told Police that they surrendered around $475 before the suspects got back in the car and drove off. Officers obtained surveillance video of the incident.

The investigation led to armed robbery charges against Carmack and Hill. Earlier this month, investigators found out that Hill was already being held at the Caddo Correctional Center on an unrelated charge.

Members of the SPD Warrants Unit, Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, and SPD K-9 Unit found Carmack on Jackie Robinson Drive. Carmack complied with officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident.

While at the suspect's property, SPD Officers saw suspected evidence of animal abuse and requested Caddo Parish Animal Control. An animal control officer completed an arrest affidavit charging Carmack separately in connection with those observations.

Carmack was transported to the Shreveport City Jail for booking.
