Shreveport Woman Arrested for Battery of a Young Family Member
Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to Manor Place in reference to a domestic disturbance.
SPD made contact with a witness who told them that Janiyah King struck her 12 year-old brother in the head with an object. The child was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to the hospital for treatment for his head injury.
Officers found King inside the home where the battery incident happened. King admitted to SPD that she asked the child to pick up one of her wigs and became angry when he did not. She admitted to hitting the child in the head. Investigators believe a blunt object was used. Its unclear how many times the child was hit in the head.
Officers noted that King has a significant size advantage in both height and weight compared to the child.
Medical staff told Officers that the injury to the child’s temple was extremely serious. Doctors told Police that had the injury been half an inch deeper, it could have reached the child’s skull.
From SPD:
"King was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
The child is expected to recover."
