Shreveport Man Arrested After Brutal Domestic Incident at a Local Motel

A Shreveport man was arrested after officers responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a motel on Westwood Park Drive.

When SPD got to the scene, they could hear a physical altercation inside the room followed by a woman screaming for help. The victim was able to escape, while the suspect, Donell James, barricaded himself inside.

Officers were eventually able to enter the room and took James into custody after he resisted arrest.

The victim suffered visible injuries consistent with strangulation and told SPD James choked her, prevented her from leaving, assaulted her, and stole cash from her. Officers were able to recover the stolen money during James' arrest.

James was transported to the Shreveport City Jail and charged with:

· Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation

· Simple Robbery

· False Imprisonment

· Resisting an Officer

The victim was treated at the scene by Shreveport Fire Department EMS.
