Shreveport Police Make Multiple Domestic Violence Arrests Over the Weekend
Shreveport Police Department Addresses Ongoing Domestic Violence in the Community
Domestic violence continues to run rampant throughout our community. Unfortunately, this is a crime that often begins behind closed doors, making it one of the most difficult for law enforcement to prevent, as well as one of the most dangerous calls an officer makes.
In most cases, officers are left responding after violence has already occurred, with limited ability to intervene beforehand. Over the past several days, Shreveport Police officers have made several arrests tied to serious domestic incidents.
Arrested on July 11:
Kerry Edwards was arrested and charged with one count of Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation. He also faces an additional charge of Resisting an Officer during the course of his arrest.
Arrested on July 12:
Demarcus Harvey was arrested for Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation. Due to the presence of seven children during the incident, Harvey is also facing seven counts of Domestic Abuse Battery by Child Endangerment.
Arrested on July 14:
Leonte Adams was arrested for Simple Battery of a Dating Partner.
LilTaja O’Neill was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Battery by Burning, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault, and Theft of a Firearm. This is yet another incident that had the potential for deadly consequences.
The Shreveport Police Department released a statement saying:
These cases are a stark reminder of the hidden danger domestic violence poses—not only to the victims but to the broader community, especially when children are involved. The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to responding swiftly and thoroughly to all domestic violence reports, but we urge community members to speak up, seek help, and take advantage of available resources before situations escalate.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please call the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or reach out to local support services for assistance.
