Shreveport Police Investigating Double-Homicide Following Car Accident

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a double homicide that happened early Saturday morning on Mansfield Road.

On Friday, Shreveport Police responded to reports of a shooting on Mansfield Road. Upon arrival, they found a car that had crashed into a building.

Inside the vehicle, SPD Officers found two men with several gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to Ochsner Health, where they were later pronounced dead.

Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit responded and began an investigation. Video was reviewed through the Real Time Crime Center and showed the victims’ vehicle driving at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing into the building.

Around 40 seconds after the crash, the suspect's car pulled-up at the scene. An unknown person got out the car, approached the victims’ vehicle, and shot several rounds into it. The suspect then got back in the vehicle and drove away.

The Caddo Coroner identified the victims as 31 year-old LaJames Smith and 26 year-old David Young.

Detectives are actively working to identify the shooter and anyone else who may have been involved.
