Shreveport Police DWI Unit Nets 18 Arrests in Explosive Weekend Crackdown
The Shreveport Police Department’s state-leading DWI Unit logged another high-volume weekend, taking 18 impaired drivers off the streets. The latest sweep highlighted a stark pattern of recidivism, with several suspects facing charges for their second, third, fourth, and even seventh offenses.
Department officials released the names and details of the arrests, which spanned from late Thursday night through Sunday morning.
Multiple Repeat Offenders Highlight Weekend Arrests
Among the 18 individuals taken into custody, several were repeat offenders with extensive histories of driving under the influence:

- Jacorey Harris was arrested around 2:20 a.m. on July 12 for his seventh DWI offense. In addition to the impaired driving charge, Harris faces counts of resisting an officer with force or violence and battery on a police officer.

- Jamarcus Moss was apprehended at approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 12, facing a fourth-offense DWI charge.

- Kevin Starks (arrested at 1:00 a.m. on July 13) and Tagaris Washington (arrested at 12:45 a.m. on July 10) were both booked for third-offense DWI.

- Thomas Hudson (July 10), Latasha Davis (July 9), and Caden Haley (July 10) were all arrested on second-offense DWI charges. Haley's arrest followed a traffic stop for an unregistered vehicle.
Initial Traffic Violations Lead to First-Time DWI Bookings
The majority of the weekend's arrests involved drivers facing their first DWI charge, frequently intercepted by officers after committing basic traffic infractions:

- Antoiney Kennedy was stopped at 6:30 a.m. on July 12 after allegedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

- Shaleriyah Moton was arrested early on July 10 after allegedly running a red light.

- Charles Mays was stopped early on July 10 for misuse of a license plate and an altered tag; officers subsequently discovered Mays also had several outstanding warrants.

- Speeding and reckless driving behavior led to the arrests of Cody Bandy and Kamari Clay.

- Equipment violations, including driving without headlights or with defective lights, led to the arrests of Lindsay Landry, Rhonda Coleman, and Shaquille Johnson.

- Improper lane usage and failure to signal resulted in charges for Brayden Rusk, Jakyra Rye, and Latravis Harris.
Authorities Issue Stern Warning to Public
Shreveport Police officials stated that the sheer volume of repeat offenders over a single weekend serves as a reminder of the unit's active enforcement strategy.
"These arrests should serve as another warning: Shreveport Police officers are actively looking for impaired drivers," the department said in a statement. "Several of these suspects had already been arrested for DWI before, yet allegedly chose to make the same dangerous decision again."
The department urged the public to utilize designated drivers, ride-share services, or simply stay put if consuming alcohol. "Driving impaired can cost you your license, your freedom or someone’s life," the statement concluded. "Drink and drive at your own risk. Our officers are waiting."
