Proactive Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Two Convicted Felons

Shreveport Police officers arrested two convicted felons on firearm charges following a proactive traffic stop last weekend.

Just before 7:00 p.m. last weekend, officers patrolling the 2500 block of Vivian Street pulled over a vehicle displaying an altered temporary license plate. During the stop, officers identified the driver as Eric Stephens and the passenger as Quincy Bogan. Investigators quickly discovered that both men were armed.

Suspects Face Disqualification Charges Due to Criminal History

Further investigation revealed that both Stephens and Bogan are legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to their prior felony convictions.

Stephens’ criminal history includes convictions for narcotics-related offenses, resisting an officer with force or violence, and aggravated assault with a firearm. Bogan's record includes prior convictions for simple burglary, theft of a firearm, and illegal use of weapons, alongside multiple prior arrests involving firearms.

Officers arrested both men and charged them with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police Chief Commends Officers' Focus on Community Safety

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith commended the officers for their proactive enforcement and dedication to removing firearms from individuals prohibited from carrying them.

Department officials emphasized that the focus remains on individuals who carry weapons carelessly, criminally, and negligently. The Shreveport Police Department stated it will continue targeting these violators to maintain safety across the city.
