Shreveport Man Arrested for Felony Gun Possession

Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to Beckham Street in reference to a vandalism complaint involving a domestic disturbance.

When SPD got to the scene, Officers made contact with the person who called. She reported that her boyfriend had begun damaging the walls in the apartment, causing her to fear for her safety.

The complainant further advised officers that the suspect, Latrenton Babers, had a firearm concealed near his side of the bed. Officers were also informed that Babers had a prior conviction for Illegal Use of Weapons making it unlawful for him to possess a firearm.

Officers located and seized a Smith & Wesson handgun from the bedroom. Babers was taken into custody and transported to the Shreveport City Jail.

Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen.

Babers has been charged with:

· Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

· Possession of a Stolen Firearm
