A Shreveport Police Officer conducted a traffic stop near Hilry Huckaby Drive after seeing a car speeding and making several lane changes.

During the stop, the SPD Officer could smell marijuana and saw ammunition inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to the recovery of a Glock 10mm handgun, a 7.62mm firearm, additional ammunition, and a small bag of marijuana.

The driver, identified as Korey Ellis, was found to have some outstanding warrants through the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office.

SPD’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team determined that Ellis has a prior conviction for armed robbery and is currently out on bond in a separate 2025 case involving possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ellis was taken into custody and transported to the Shreveport City Jail.

From SPD:

"This incident highlights the vigilance of SPD patrol officers and the importance of coordination with specialized units. What began as a traffic stop led to the recovery of two firearms and the arrest of an individual with outstanding warrants and a significant criminal history."
