If you have ever made that long drive to Florida just to squeeze in a quick visit with family, Shreveport Regional’s latest Allegiant news feels personal. As my own daughter lives in Florida, a nonstop out of SHV is not just a schedule change, it is one less day lost to interstate traffic and one more chance to show up for the moments that matter.

Allegiant is extending its nonstop Orlando, Florida service from Shreveport into the fall, with tickets on sale now and fares starting at $73.

What This Means for the SHV

Shreveport Airport Authority spokesman Mark Crawford has been consistent about what extra routes can do for the region, especially when more locals choose to fly out of Shreveport instead of driving to larger airports.

“Anytime more people choose to fly from Shreveport, that is obviously more revenue to continue to grow,” Crawford said in a prior update about seasonal travel and service changes.

Crawford has also framed the airport as a community-supported operation, noting the airport is “completely self-funded” while explaining why passenger choices matter.

Why Florida Nonstops Matter for Shreveport Families

Florida routes are not only for vacations. They are for birthdays, surprise weekends, and those quick trips when your adult kids call and you realize you want to be on the next flight, not the next exit ramp.

Crawford has pointed to demand as a driver for new and returning service, including the airport’s push for more nonstop options and the way travelers ask for them directly.

A Quick Note for Shreveport Travelers

If you are planning spring break or summer travel, keep an eye on schedules because seasonal service can shift. Allegiant also publishes SHV route information and fare searches on its site, which can help you spot dates and options.
