Shreveport Police Operation Leads to Seizure of Guns and Drugs

Over the weekend, local and state law enforcement agencies came together to address ongoing gun complaints and violent activity at Copper Road Plaza.

The operation included members of the Shreveport Police Department Violent Crime Abatement Team, Louisiana State Police Gator Task Force, Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, SPD OSI, Real Time Crime Center, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office Air Support, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, and Caddo Parish Juvenile Services.

Investigators executed a coordinated plan that resulted in the seizure of:

· 40 grams of marijuana

· 86 dosage units of suspected ecstasy

· 2 handguns

· 1 handgun equipped with a Glock switch

· 1 AR-style pistol

Two men are also being referred to federal authorities for case review:

This operation was about more than making arrests and seizing guns. It was about taking preventative action to stop the next shooting before it happens.

"When officers receive repeated complaints of firearms and violent activity in an area, we cannot afford to wait until someone is shot or killed before taking action. We believe this coordinated operation removed dangerous weapons from the streets and may very well have prevented future shootings or homicides in this area.
