SPD Violent Crimes Abatement Team Seizes Drugs and Guns in Dual Felon Arrests
The Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) has taken two repeat offenders off the streets along with illegal firearms and narcotics, following a pair of targeted proactive enforcement operations in late July.
The enforcement push is part of VCAT's ongoing initiative to curb gun violence and illegal drug trade throughout the city.
July 20 Arrest Yields Narcotics, Firearm, and Multiple Charges

The first operation took place on July 20, when VCAT officers arrested Daylon Maccauley following a detailed investigation into drug activity. During the operation, officers seized a firearm and a quantity of illegal narcotics.
Maccauley was booked on several severe counts, including:
- Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics
- Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics
- Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Investigators later confirmed that Maccauley is a convicted felon with a criminal history that includes aggravated property damage and multiple narcotics convictions. Consequently, officers added an additional charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Cedar Creek Drive Follow-up Leads to Second Felon Arrest

Just over a week later, on July 29, VCAT officers executed a follow-up investigation at a residence on Cedar Creek Drive. The operation resulted in the arrest of Charles B. Washington, who was reportedly found in possession of a firearm.
A check of Washington's criminal record revealed prior felony convictions for illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, and simple burglary. Washington was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Police Department Reaffirms Commitment to Proactive Enforcement
Shreveport police officials emphasized that these recent arrests highlight the unit's relentless focus on high-risk offenders. VCAT plans to continue its aggressive operations targeting individuals who illegally possess firearms and distribute illegal drugs in the community.
