The Krewe of Centaur Grand Bal 32 took place this past weekend at the Shreveport Convention Center. This amazing event is one of the pillars of the Mardi Gras season in the Shreveport and Bossier City region.

One of the best parts of the bal events are the decorations and designs the royalty comes up with. During these events, the royalty members have an opportunity to show off their creativity and hard work. They get to wear extravagant outfits, and decorate their table displays with huge designs and awesome decorations. Like this table from the this year's Krewe of Centaur Bal...

Those dragons and dragon egg were custom made just for the bal. They sat as the centerpiece on the tables for the Duke & Duchess of Fun. The table was decorated with amazing goblets, swords (they were plastic, don't worry), flaming cauldrons, and more. But something happened at this table that has left a few people confused.

That amazing custom egg from between the two dragons, a handmade piece of art, was taken off the table on Saturday night.

Yup. Someone came into an event for a non-profit organization, looked at what members of the Krewe spent their own money on, and decided it was theirs to take from a table and leave with.

Here's one of the things about the Krewe of Centaur Bal, its a very photogenic event. Probably safe to say tens-of-thousands of pictures are taken at the event. Not to mention all of the video that gets shot from attendees, the Krewe, and security. So it probably won't take long for people to figure out that the custom egg, valued at $500, went missing from that table between 11:15pm and 11:25pm. Probably also won't take long to identify the person last seen with it either.

So, if you happen to know a person that came into possession of a new dragon egg this weekend, you might want to let them know the owner is looking for it. Or they can just contact bal@kreweofcentaur.org to coordinate a drop off of the egg with no questions asked.

But if you see a new dragon's egg on someone's desk this week...think twice about where it came from.

Mr. Mardi Gras' Pictures From the 2024 Krewe of Centaur Bal

He's a Charter Member (Day 1 Member) of the Krewe of Centaur. He's served as King Centaur IX, and he's taken pictures at almost every Centaur event you can think of. Harvey Dillahunty is Shreveport's Mr. Mardi Gras. He took a ton of pictures at the 2024 Krewe of Centaur Bal, and he's shared some of those with us...
