Drivers in northwest Shreveport should plan alternate routes after a water main break near the Thomas L. Amiss Water Plant forced several road closures. City officials say repairs are underway, but traffic disruptions could last through at least Monday.

Roads Closed Near Myelin Street and Blanchard Road

According to city alerts, the 3200 block of  Milam  Street is closed from Exposition Avenue to the Villa del Lago Apartments in the 3500 block of Milam Street. No eastbound or westbound traffic is allowed through that stretch while crews work on the damaged water main.

In addition, Blanchard Road is closed at the Thomas L. Amiss Water Plant all the way to Hillary Huckabee Avenue. Both directions are blocked to traffic while the repair project continues.

These closures affect several nearby neighborhoods and apartments in the area, especially drivers who normally use those roads to access north Shreveport routes.

Alternate Route for Lakeside Acres Residents

City officials say residents and visitors in the Lakeside Acres subdivision should use Logan Street from Hearn Avenue as the primary way to enter and exit the neighborhood while construction continues.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and expect delays around the work zone.

Officials Urge Drivers Not to Ignore Barricades

Crews anticipate the road closures will remain in place through at least Monday, depending on how quickly repairs to the water main can be completed.

Officials also remind drivers not to go around barricades. The barriers are in place to protect both motorists and construction crews while repairs are underway.

Motorists traveling near the Thomas L. Amiss Water Plant should allow extra time and follow posted detours until the work is complete.
