15 Louisiana Summer Concerts Millennials Should Know About
As the sands of time move on...sometimes its kind, sometimes it isn't. Recently, the Millennial generation is starting to snap into that reality.
It can be summed up with the math surrounding Bowling For Soup's song "1985". That song was released in 2004, and millennials laughed about how dated the references were, and how old everything in the song was...at that time. See, when you look at a calendar now, you realize "1985" was released 19 years ago. Which is exactly how old 1985 was from 2004. So if a song like that was created today, all of the dated references and "old stuff" included, would be from 2004.
I fell really bad for Millennials. This entire generation has been haunted by the word "unprecedented". This generation was in school as they watched the tragedy of Columbine unfold in 1999. A generation that was old enough to understand 9/11, and wouldn't know a world without Homeland Security. This generation knows forever war, terrorism threat levels, banking crises every few years, devastating natural disasters of levels never recorded, pandemics, and Ticketmaster. There have been very few good things that have happened for this generation.
Maybe the best thing the Millennial generation has enjoyed is the evolution of music. Even though that was marred by the Napster controversies. But seriously, the quality of music produced during the 90s and early 2000s is tough to compete with. The 60s, 70s, and 80s all had some solid movements...but look at the explosive growth across the board during the 90s and early 2000s. Rock exploded multiple times, from grunge to nu-metal...emo to alt-rock. Country welcomed artists like Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, who took them from "country western" bars to mainstream pop culture. Rap saw multiple GOATs rise up, only to be topped by someone even better.
Seriously, the best thing for Millennials was the music.
This summer, Louisiana is going to host a solid number of concerts and events that perfectly serve the Millennial generation.
