I Remember Hearing My Mother Tell Me and My Siblings That We Could Not Put Our Feet on the Dash.

I used to think it was because my mother hated dirty windows. Who wants nasty footprints on the windshield right? Turns out my mother had heard several horror stories about car accidents and she wanted to make sure we all were safe.

Whether you are driving a Louisiana backroad or stuck in Shreveport traffic on I-20 you should never put your feet on the dash. A video on TikTok has resurfaced and it has reminded all of us that it can happen to anyone.

TikToker Deann Saenz-Ashbaugh (@dsaenz94) went viral after she posted a video detailing a horrid car accident where she was seriously injured. First, she talked about watching another video about things you should never do.

Deann Saenz-Ashbaugh said in the video; "This lady that worked at a morgue or something, and she said things I would never do cause of her seeing these bodies. Is putting her feet on the dash because she saw it break your hips." She goes on to say that she knew better and quit putting her feet on the dash for a while. She goes on to say "And I was like, oh my gosh, I put my feet on the dash. I should not do that. So I stopped doing it for a little bit, then I started doing it again, 'cause you just think it's just not gonna happen to you."
Saenz-Ashbaugh explains that six weeks after she watched the video she was in the craziest car accident. "My feet were on the dash and we were t-boned on my side. We rolled. I went unconscious... My left foot, the tibia and fibula broke. My right foot got stuck between the dash window."
