Shreveport Just Took a Huge Step Toward Winning 30 Free Concerts
When the Shreveport community learned that there was a chance to bring free entertainment to the city, it was like we all decided to set aside our differences and take action.
Have you heard of the Levitt Music Foundation? They are on a mission to hook up one town with free concerts, and Shreveport has a chance to be that town. This means we could have something epic happening at Shreveport's Caddo Common Park.
Shreveport Is a Finalist for a Major Concert Grant
The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) shared the exciting news that the Levitt Music Foundation selected Shreveport as one of just 100 finalists nationwide for a major grant.
This opportunity could lead to a grant of up to $120,000 to produce 30 free, live, professional music concerts at Caddo Common Park. The chance to win these concerts depended entirely on us. Shreveport had to showcase its community support by securing the most votes during the public online voting phase.
Our City Came Together and Earned a Top Spot
Online public voting opened up, and Shreveport seemed to have called every neighbor, cousin, and cousin's cousin twice removed to get the word out. We made it as one of the fifty finalists and even finished in an impressive 11th place out of 100 cities. Our collective effort demonstrated a passion and unity that proved this isn't just a contest, it's a reflection of our city's spirit.
Now, we’ve moved into the next stage of the selection process.
This means the Levitt Music Foundation will conduct a deeper dive into our grant application and the proposed music series. They'll be looking at everything from our community's needs to the potential impact the concerts would have on our downtown district.
The grant winner will be officially announced on November 18, 2025. Until then, all we can do is wait and hope that our city’s collective efforts pay off.
