How Siri Was Stalking Shreveport For Years
The lawsuit goes back to 2019 when it was argued in court that Apple was secretly using Siri to record conversations without the user's knowledge. The argument was that Apple was using these secretly recorded conversations to fine-tune advertising, all without the user's knowledge.
Apple stands firm on its claim that any conversations that were accidentally recorded were not used without the user's knowledge for advertising.
What Money Is Shreveport Owed?
As part of the lawsuit's settlement, money could be owed to any Shreveport Apple users who accidentally activated Siri during a personal conversation between September 17th, 2014, and December 17th, 2024. According to some who claimed part of the settlement, users can redeem at most $100, depending on their circumstances.
Anyone in Shreveport who has used Apple products like the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, or other Siri-enabled devices can file valid claims worth $20 for each Siri-enabled device. Each user can file and claim for up to five Apple devices.
