Six Flags Pushes Back Opening of Massive New Coaster
(Arlington, Texas) Roller coaster enthusiasts, like myself, have been looking forward to Friday, June 26, the announced date for the opening of Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas.
Six Flags Announces Opening Day Delay
Tormenta Rampaging Run is the new world record-setting and breaking giga dive coaster at Six Flags. This new roller coaster will set six world records when it eventually opens. I say that because Six Flags Over Texas announced on social media today, June 22, that the grand opening date is going to be pushed back.

Why Tormenta's Opening Was Postponed
The theme park said in a social media post that the commissioning and testing process is taking longer than expected. Six Flags Over Texas says it will share a new opening date as soon as it's ready to be announced.
Fans Continue Watching Test Runs
In the meantime, the park will continue to tease park guests as testing continues on the new roller coaster. Guests will continue to film and post videos about riderless trains cycling through the circuit of the newest roller coaster in the Lone Star State.

For those of us who wanted this roller coaster to open yesterday, we'll need to be a bit more patient. After all, a delayed ride is eventually good, but a rushed ride can be problematic forever.
The Six Major Records Tormenta Will Break
As a roller coaster enthusiast, I am looking forward to riding this massive new record-breaking ride.
- Tallest Dive Coaster: Soaring to an epic height of 309 feet, Tormenta Rampaging Run will give riders a heart-stopping view of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area before plunging them into a high-speed descent.
- Fastest Dive Coaster: Reaching a thrilling speed of 87 mph, Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the fastest dive coaster on the planet, ensuring an experience that delivers pure excitement from the first moment to the last.
- Longest Dive Coaster: Spanning 4,199 feet, this ride will offer an extended journey full of airtime (brief periods of weightlessness) moments, sharp turns, and exhilarating drops that will make riders feel like they are bull runners.
- Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: At 179 feet, the loop on this coaster will be the highest of any coaster, of any type, in the world.
- Highest Immelmann Inversion: Being upside down at 218 feet will become a must for thrill-seekers and roller coaster enthusiasts from around the world.
- Highest 95-Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: Without warning, the train will release, dropping riders a record 285 feet down at a beyond-vertical 95 degrees.
Why the Wait Will Be Worth It
The coaster is expected to set additional records, but these are the six headline-grabbing achievements. Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the newest and most unique new roller coaster that Six Flags Over Texas has seen in more than two decades.
The wait will definitely be worth it.
