One man is lucky to be alive after an alligator chased up a tree, and now we're reminding all fishermen in South Louisiana of this potential threat.

The man reportedly was fishing at Bird Rookery Lake when an alligator gave chase and forced him to retreat to this tree. A friend of the man in the tree called the Chamber County Sheriff's Office to report that he was stuck in a tree and that's when deputies responded.

At approximately 10 pm deputies located the man in the tree and were able to rescue him. No injuries were reported in this bizarre case, but it is a great reminder to all that are outdoors as temperatures warm up.

If you're out fishing you should be aware that alligators, snakes, and other wildlife are moving more now as we approach the summer months.

Remember to always be aware of your surroundings and if you are going to be outdoors, make sure that someone knows where you will be, and always make sure your cell phone is fully charged upon entering the woods or getting on the water.

Check out as deputies approach the man in the tree and rescue him from this alligator-infested lake.
