Louisiana Themed Cakes Are Hit for Local Bakery
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Louisiana is known for its culture, and that includes sports, food, the outdoors, and so much more.
Knowing that, one of the recent trends at wedding receptions has been to have a themed cake for the Groom on his big night, and one local bakery seems to have perfected some of the desired Louisiana themes.
No longer is the Groom's cake just a chocolate cake on a table; those days are gone, and now you are seeing much more detail when it comes to the Groom's cake. And often, his cake resembles one of his hobbies, like golf.
In addition to just Groom's cakes, birthday cakes are now much more detailed. While some may still opt for the basic cake for celebrations, others are paying top dollar for detailed cakes that reflect their interests, too.
Piece of Cake Lafayette recently shared some Louisiana-themed cakes on their social media page, and these caught our eye. We all know that many here in South Louisiana love crawfish and Michelod Ultra, and it's no mistake that these cakes showed up at wedding venues recently.
We think you'll appreciate the themes and details put into these amazing cakes, which truly reflect our culture here in Louisiana.
A recent graduate from LSU requested this adorable cake, and the color theme certainly matched her alma mater.
The crawfish boil cake was hot, and not only did the crawfish look amazing here, but the "sides" added to this cake made what we all loved—a good crawfish boil —even better.
Then there's this masterpiece that was delivered to Rayne, Louisiana, for a wedding. Yes, it went to someone who's in the crawfish industry, and yes, most of what you see above was edible.
Hunting is certainly part of the Louisiana culture, and one Groom apparently loves being in a duck blind, so his cake seemed to resemble that hobby. What great detail once again.
We like cooking in Louisiana, and we are all guilty of adding some seasoning over just about anything we cook, and apparently, someone loves the Tony Chachere's brand of seasoning. This cake looked amazing, and it certainly fit what most of us do on a daily basis.
Like hunting and sports, Mardi Gras is in Louisiana, and someone apparently loves it as much as you and me. This Mardi Cake wasn't huge, but the colors truly reflect what we wait for all year long, Carnival Season.
Look, it's no secret, people down South enjoy their alcohol, and one groom apparently is a fan of Crown Royal. So, when it came time to choose a theme for his cake on his wedding night, he went with his favorite adult beverage, and this came out so good.
Golf is huge here, and if you don't believe me, just drive past any local golf course on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Well, one groom requested that his cake resemble his golf gear, and here's what he got. Wow,
Back to drinking, this Yeti ice chest was delivered to a local wedding venue, and as you can see, from the ice chest to the ice, there was a lot of cake detail here. You think this guy drinks Coors Light on the weekends? We do.
Another gorgeous cake resembling "Sportsman's Paradise" was on display at a local wedding reception, and as you can see above, the "Hunt' is certainly over....At least for a wife.
Lastly, this is one of my favorites from Piece of Cake Lafayette. The armadillo is a popular animal in Louisiana, and at one time, many grooms wanted one at their wedding. Perhaps the movie "Steel Magnolias" influenced this trend, but the amount of detail that went into this cake is unreal.
Lastly, we have another beautiful graduation cake featuring the colors and emblem of UL-Lafayette. UL is a huge asset to the Acadiana region, and this cake reflects the university that's in our backyard.
